GE Vernova sells turbines, switchgear, and grid equipment into one of the biggest infrastructure buildouts in the world.

AI is helping drive it.

Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, Amazon and Oracle are committing enormous amounts of capital to data centers. That spending is creating electricity demand that eventually shows up in generation, transmission and grid equipment.

I own GE Vernova, so I wanted to know how its stock was trading against the companies creating that demand.

I stripped out the broader market and looked at the most recent 60-session relationship.

GE Vernova’s correlation with the five hyperscalers was:

−0.36

Then I ran the same analysis against the semiconductor sector.

GE Vernova’s correlation with SOXX was:

+0.53

Chip companies don’t buy GE Vernova turbines, switchgear or transformers.

Yet GEV is trading with them.

The companies whose capital spending is helping create demand for GE Vernova’s products are moving the other way.

That is a peculiar setup if you own GEV as exposure to the AI power buildout.

What exactly are you exposed to?
